When people think of using Bebo, they most likely think about the social networking site. But back in 2006, when Bebo was first introduced to the public, it had a different purpose: connecting bands and artists with fans and music lovers. Since then, the platform has evolved into what we know today-- but what would life be like without Bebo? Read on to find out more! Bebo is a social networking service that allows you to have your own space where you can share pictures with friends or comment on their work. Users do not need an email address or a Facebook account to sign up for this service-- just a username and a password. Once signed up, users can add content such as text, pictures, music or video. In order to collect more friends and fans, users can write blogs and post on other people's blogs. Bebo was founded by Michael and Xochi Birch in 2005. Before this revolutionary site was created, the Cheezburger Network did not exist nor did some of Bebo's competitors such as Twitter or Facebook. Michael had already started a design company that created websites for businesses when he decided that it would be fun to try something different-- so he created Bebo with his wife Xochi. Soon enough, the site grew in popularity mainly because celebrities were using it to communicate with their fans. In fact, the site started getting so much traffic that it had to be re-designed and moved to a server in the United States. Bebo is most popular among the age group of 12–24 and is most used in Britain and Spain. This can be seen in Bebo's monthly active users (MAUs) which shows that about 70% of Bebo's MAUs are from Europe and North America, 25% from Australia and 5% from other parts of the world like South America. This is most likely because teenagers know how to work this site more than anyone else does. In terms of gender, women use Bebo more than men. In 2006, the Bebo user base was 51% male and 49% female. In 2009, men make up 47% of Bebo's users while 47% are women. Bebo is a social networking site that allows people to post pictures and videos or text on a space that can be viewed by friends and their friends as well as people who have become fans of the users. Users can create a blog on their profile page where they can write on subjects such as what they plan to do next or what they think about current events such as music, movies, sports and so on. They can also post pictures, videos and music on their blog. The main page for Bebo is pretty simple. Users will be able to see the latest updates from friends and fans (and whoever they follow) in a large banner image with small images of their friends and fans below it. A sidebar may also appear with features such as music, videos, blogs or pages that users can view. The main page is very simplistic but this doesn't mean it has nothing to offer. For example, users can 'like' a friend's post or comment on it by clicking the heart icon which will make the heart grow larger and turn red. cfa1e77820
